Natural Flow EMDR developed out of the original basic EMDR as Dr. David Grand sought to more closely attune with the client and their process. Utilizing skills that flow with the client supports identification and release of both stored cognitive memories and stored physical sensations. Dr. Grand went on to develop the method of Brainspotting as well after observing clients identifying specific spots in their visual field that activated the traumatic memory and sensation. This training will begin with the basic protocol and development of skills to support a more organic identification and release of traumatic memories. No previous training or experience in EMDR is required. Bring thera-tappers if you have them or plan to use them in the future. You are also welcome to utilize bilateral music on your phone with earbuds. Case studies will include mental health issues, substance abuse issues, and dual diagnosis issues.

OBJECTIVES:

1.      Explore, learn and discuss philosophy of attunement with the client in identifying and treating traumatic cognitive memories and traumatic body stored sensations to support mental health and substance abuse recovery.

2.      Develop skills in identifying and installing positive memories and sensations.

3.      Develop and practice skills in identifying, reducing, and releasing stored cognitive and bodily stored negative and traumatic memories.

INSTRUCTOR: Linda Harrison, LCMHCS, CCS, MAC
